Esports battle heads into the west

Three Ireland’s EStars is making the trip into the west, this Wednesday, March 28th, for the Sligo leg of the competition at the very fancy Clayton Hotel.

With a €20,000 prize and trip to Las Vegas up for grabs, the stakes are high and when Big Betty rolls in to the Clayton Hotel this week, the Sligo Rovers EStars team will be determined to secure a home victory and one step closer to a place in the final. This is not a game.

Three Ireland’s EStars is Ireland’s biggest ever esports tournament and showcases the intense action and epic drama of top-level competitive gaming on a scale never seen before in this country. Ten teams, representing nine League of Ireland football clubs and main sponsors Three, are fighting it out over eight weeks of gruelling competition to earn their place in the 3Arena in Dublin on May 13th and the chance to win €20,000.

Presented by radio stars, Connor Phillips and Holly Hamilton, Three Ireland’s EStars League at the Clayton Hotel provides a chance to see the world’s fastest growing spectator sport in Sligo. The house casters will explain and analyse the unfolding action on site and online, while soft drinks partner Lucozade, main sponsor Three, new retail partner Peak and food partner, Four Star Pizza, will be on site to add to the buzz and fuel the competition.

Despite a defeat to Shamrock Rovers in the Cork bout in week two in the battle of the Rovers, Sligo Rovers, are determined to be the winning side at home. Captain Kevin Treanor said the Sligo Rovers team were relishing the prospect of their home encounter, against the Three team.

“While we were disappointed by last week’s result, playing in Sligo with the support of the home crowd will give us the boost to take the win this week” the Sligo Rovers captain said. “The plan remains the same, Sligo Rovers on the stage at the 3Arena.”

Mags Byrne of Three Ireland’s EStars said: “As we get deeper into the league, the competition is really heating up and our Sligo Rovers leg at the stunning Clayton Hotel is set to be another thriller.
