Three Ireland’s EStars battle comes Leeside

After last week’s nail-biting opening encounter in Dundalk, Three Ireland’s EStars is set to travel Leeside this Wednesday, March 21st.

With a €20,000 prize and trip to Las Vegas up for grabs, the stakes are high and when Big Betty rolls in to Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium this week, the Cork team will be determined to seize a home victory. This is not a game.

Three Ireland’s EStars is Ireland’s biggest ever esports tournament and showcases the intense action and epic drama of top-level competitive gaming on a scale never seen before in this country. Ten teams, representing nine League of Ireland football clubs including Cork City and main sponsors Three, will fight it out over eight weeks of gruelling competition. The opening night of bouts was held last week in Dundalk and this week, with the Cork team getting off to a winning start against early tournament favourites, Shamrock Rovers.

Presented by radio stars, Connor Phillips and Holly Hamilton, with entertainment on the night from thrilling percussion troupe, The Hit Machine Drummers, Three Ireland’s EStars League at Curraheen Park provides a chance to see the world’s fastest growing spectator sport, in Cork. Expert shoutcasters will explain the unfolding action, and soft drinks partner Lucozade, main sponsor Three, new retail partner Peak and food partner, Four Star Pizza, will be on site to add to the buzz.

Buoyed by the confidence of a shock win over Shamrock Rovers, Cork City EStars captain, Cailean Finn, said the Cork team were relishing the prospect of their home encounter, against the Three team, not to mention the opportunity to settle old rivalries.

“We weren’t expecting to take down SHAM in Dundalk after how the scrims were going, but taking down the majority of NSG felt good.,” the Cork captain said. “Three should be an interesting game, I’d love to take out another NSG member on Wednesday!”

Mags Byrne of Three Ireland’s EStars said: “The first league night in Dundalk was nail-biting. The competition has already proven fierce and we can’t wait to see what the next face-off will produce. With the best gaming talent from across Ireland in our teams, we know Three Ireland’s EStars tournament will have us all gripped until the finals at the 3Arena in May.”

Karl Donnelly of Three added: ‘We are delighted to continue our sponsorship of the Three EStars league activity this week in Cork. With this partnership, we are further enhancing our offering to customers in the gaming community and to celebrate the event, we are offering an online exclusive of €70 off our Razer gaming smartphone as well as a complimentary ticket to the Three Ireland’s EStars final in the 3Arena this May.
