Three Ireland’s EStars size up 3Arena

With only one week to go before the first bout, battle lines have been drawn as Three Ireland’s EStars sized up the 3Arena for the gruelling contest ahead on Wednesday.

As the competitors converged on the 3Arena’s 1878 Club, only a corridor separated them from the main arena, from the stage where the best four teams will battle for a chance to win €20,000, a trip to Las Vegas and the launch of a career in esports, the message was clear. This is not a game.

This is skill and talent. This is dedication. This is eight weeks of intense competition. This is making your mark in the biggest esports tournament to reach our shores. This is epic.

Compere, television presenter Connor Phillips gave the contenders a flavour of what to expect over the eight-week league. Nobody said it was going to be easy.

Karl Donnelly of main sponsor Three, explained to the crowd why the telecommunications company are throwing their weight behind the biggest esports event to reach our shores.

Aoife McGuigan of Lucozade Energy, drinks partner, wished the contenders luck and pledged to bring energy every step of the way to the final, while Mags Byrne of First for E Players and Three Ireland’s EStars reminded the competitors of the high stakes; that incredible prize and the promise that the Three Ireland’s EStars is only the beginning.

The next time the contenders will come face-to-face is at Oriel Park, Dundalk, on Wednesday, March 13th. This won’t be easy. This is not a game. For those who will walk out on the main stage of the 3Arena in May, this will be all worth it.
